Terms of Service
1. Service Description
Parat is a digital case preparation tool for lawyers and other legal professionals. The service helps you organise documents, conduct intake interviews, and generate structured case summaries using artificial intelligence.
Parat is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Content and outputs produced by the service do not constitute legal advice and cannot substitute the judgement of a qualified legal professional. You are at all times responsible for the professional assessment of all results.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Parat, you accept these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept the terms, you may not use the service.
We reserve the right to modify these terms. Material changes will be notified by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
3. Account Registration
To use Parat you must create a personal account. You are responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date information. One account per person — sharing login credentials is not permitted. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.
If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, you must immediately notify us at legal@parat.ai.
4. Subscription and Billing
Parat is offered with the following billing periods, all priced in Norwegian kroner (NOK) with automatic renewal:
- Monthly — standard billing interval.
- Quarterly — approximately 16% discount compared to monthly.
- Annual — approximately 25% discount compared to monthly.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the current paid period. No refunds are given for unused portions of a paid period.
A VAT invoice is issued for all payments in accordance with Norwegian VAT legislation. Prices at the time of order are binding for the current period.
5. Free Trial
New users may register without a payment card and try the service for free. During the trial you can upload documents, complete the intake interview, and view a partial preview of the case summary. Full case summaries and full document processing require an active paid subscription.
No credit card details are required to start the free trial.
6. Credits
Certain features in Parat consume credits. Credits are allocated according to your subscription plan and reset at the start of each new billing period. Additional (“top-up”) credits purchased separately carry over to the next period and do not expire on automatic renewal.
Parat will notify you when you have used 80% of your credits. An active work session will never be interrupted mid-operation due to insufficient credits; in-progress operations will always complete.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Upload material that is unlawful, harmful, discriminatory, or otherwise in violation of applicable law.
- Attempt to circumvent, disable, or otherwise undermine security features of the service.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Parat platform.
- Use the service to distribute spam, malware, or other unwanted content.
- Resell or sublicense access to the service without written permission.
Violations may result in immediate termination of your account.
8. Intellectual Property
You retain full ownership of all documents and other content you upload to Parat, as well as the AI-generated outputs produced on the basis of your content.
Parat and its licensors own all rights to the platform, software, user interface, and underlying technology. These terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, and non-transferable licence to use the service for your own professional purposes.
9. Data and Privacy
The processing of your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement. We provide a contractual guarantee that data you upload to Parat is never used to train AI models.
10. AI Output Disclaimer
Content generated by Parat is informational in nature and does not constitute legal advice. Parat makes no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated outputs for any specific legal matter.
You are responsible for verifying all facts, sources, and citations in AI-generated outputs before using them in a professional context. Use of the outputs is entirely at your own risk.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by Norwegian law, Parat's total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid for the service in the twelve (12) months preceding the relevant claim.
Parat is not liable for indirect loss, consequential damages, loss of profit, or loss arising from decisions made on the basis of AI-generated content. These limitations apply to the extent that such liability may be disclaimed under Norwegian law and applicable EU consumer legislation.
12. Termination
You may cancel your subscription and delete your account at any time via account settings. Following cancellation you have read-only access to your own data for 12 months. You may export all your data at any time, including after cancellation, during this period.
Parat may terminate or suspend your account for material breach of these terms, with prior notice where reasonable and practicable.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Norwegian law (Norges lover). Any disputes not resolved amicably shall be brought before the ordinary Norwegian courts, with Oslo District Court as the agreed venue.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you hold as a consumer under applicable EU directives on consumer protection, including the Consumer Rights Directive and the Directive on digital content and digital services.
